Jon Paden (USA)

Jon Paden is a sculptor and digital media artist based out of San Diego California, USA. He received a BFA from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, OH and is currently completing his MFA at University of California San Diego. Paden’s artwork crosses artistic boundaries, covering a myriad of materials, techniques, and traditions including wood, glass, drawing, painting and technology driven new media. He grew up in South Carolina where he developed his love for art in a fine and performing arts high school, the Fine Arts Center.

Paden’s artworks are complex with a focus on psychological response. He often combines drawing, woodcarving, and sculpting with diverse approaches in new electronic media. Programming and algorithms play a crucial role in the autonomy of the artworks. His most recent work mixed paper masks and computer vision to build a one of a kind Augmented reality artwork that explored digital memorial and how physical objects can be embedded with digital information as memory.
